Back in 1995
Can you believe 1995 was 25 years ago? McLaren does, and they want to commemorate a rightful bragging right in their motorsport history with a special edition 720S. It’s called the McLaren 720S Le Mans. In 1995 McLaren won the 24 hours of Le Mans endurance race. They won using a race version of their McLaren F1 called the F1 GTR. This car is a 25 anniversary special edition and only 50 are being built. Out of these 50 just 16 are being sent over to Europe.

So what makes these 50 cars stand out from a pack of 720S McLarens? Well, customers who order a Le Mans edition 720S will have a choice of two colors: McLaren Orange or Sarthe Grey. The interior will also be limited in color to grey or orange, but will feature carbon fiber racing bucket seats.
Each special edition McLaren 720S Le Mans will have their lower bumpers and sides painted Uneo Grey. A “McLaren 25 anniversary Le Mans” proudly displayed on the rear fender. The five spoke LM wheels are unique for the 720S Le Mans and feature gold painted brake calibers. Other goodies include functional roof scoop in gloss black, and carbon fiber louvered front fenders.
McLaren even made a point to start each 720S Le Mans’ VIN number with “298”. An Easter egg tribute to the number of laps the 1995 F1 GTR completed at Le Mans. The McLaren 720S Le Mans will be powered by the standard 710 horsepower twin turbo 4.0-liter V8 and seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. That’s good enough for 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. To better understand the power the McLaren 720S can reach 0-124 mph in 7.8 seconds! Ice takes longer to melt in the Texas sun than it does for this super car to hit a buck 25. Ridiculous speed.
McLaren is taking orders for the 720S Le Mans right now. Starting price is an estimated $315,300 US dollars. Deliveries are set to start as soon as September 2020.
