Christine GZ Partners with Avatel Racing Team
After nearly a year of waiting, international pro-racing driver, Christine GZ, is getting back in the driver seat. The COVID-19 pandemic has wiped out most of the 2020 calendar, but as we enter the final quarter of the year, things are starting to look positive – in a good way. Christine GZ’s return to racing is also a return to familiar grounds as she comes back to where she started – rally racing in Spain.
Christine GZ will be competing at the 2020 Andalucía Rally with Co-driver Edu Blanco and 4WD Jaton Racing under the newly formed Avatel Racing Team. Christine’s main partner Renegade Products USA will be supporting her during the multi-stage rally raid event.

Spanish optical fiber operator Avatel Telecom is brand new in the world of motorsport. Pro-racers Christine GZ and Edu Blanco bring their uniquely fast skills to this newly formed competitive racing team. Avatel Racing Team will be entering two teams at the Andalucía Rally in T1 and T2 class. GZ and co-driver Blanco will be driving a T2 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 running a stock diesel V8 engine and manual transmission. The second team is a T1 Toyota Hilux driven by Pablo Canto and co-driver Jorge Gomez.
The 2020 Andalucía Rally is a rally raid taking place near the town of Villamartin. The course is a loop over various terrains, and unlike a traditional rally race, there is no one right way. Motorcycle teams will use a paper roadbook, and cars will have access to a digital roadbook to navigate each stage of the rally.
The Andalucía Rally runs from October 6th – 10th, with four stages for a combined total distance of 1000 kilometers (620 miles). Each stage will consist of completing two loops around the course, except for the third round, a single-special stage of 300 kilometers (186 miles).

In a year full of red lights, the signal has turned green for Christine GZ as she prepares for this week long racing event. The Andalucía Rally is also known as a pre-Dakar race. Meaning the results of this race will keep GZ on the right course to a Dakar starting grid. Keep up with Christine GZ’s international motorsport career both on and off the track via Instagram.
