Chevy Cruze Tries to Jump a Drawbridge

This news story hit the virtual presses last week on May 24th, reporting on the deaths of two Texas men who drowned after trying to jump the Black Bayou Bridge in Louisiana. Alejandro Cazares, age 23, from McAllen, Texas, and Roberto Alejandro Moreno, age 32, from Edinburgh were reported dead at the scene by Louisiana state police.

The incident happened around 2am Friday when the drawbridge was up to allow a boat to travel underneath. Cazares and Moreno were in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and witnesses said that the passenger reportedly got out of the car and raised the bridge gate by hand. Afterwards, he got back inside the car, and that’s when the driver gunned it in an effort to jump and clear the bridge – it did not make it. Witnesses said that the car went airborne before crash landing in the water and immediately sank to the bottom. Police reported that both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s a tragedy that both these young men lost their lives needlessly. The main question that will never be answered is, “What were they thinking?” Seriously, what the hell were they thinking?
